Brandon | Markup AllianceTwo of the top three GUIs in GUI Awards had web features, and I expect more and more GUIs will have internet features. HTML is a hard mark-up to parse and/or render. We need a new mark-up, one that can be rendered easily, and that can be rendered in a variety of GUIs. QML is easy to parse, but not exactly easy to render. I know one thing, we need to choose a standard, that way we can all share web items.
Does anyone think we should keep QML or is a replacement in order? | 2010-01-02 | 12:16 PM |
bongomeno | Re:Markup AllianceQML is nice, but if you are looking for an alternative, I made one called SML (small markup language). It is small and not very powerful, but you can check it out on my site. Its called Winbrowse. You can find it in the download section.

pharoah | Re:Markup AllianceThe problem with SML is that it's tougher to parse, and only offers a subset of the functionality that QML does. If you write SML pages, I can view them in a QML reader using http://pharoah.xetaspace.net/sml | 2010-01-02 | 2:52 PM |
Brandon | Re:Markup AllianceI'll probably just support QML, Pharoah seems to be pretty decicated to making neat tools to get content and if Trolly can make a browser, so can I. | 2010-01-02 | 3:11 PM |
bongomeno | Re:Markup AllianceI was thinking about doing something with the COM prots.
Modem programming is fairly simple, and I might be able to create something that runs in the background waiting for a call. And when it gets one, it recieves a message and displays in a window: "YOUVE GOT MAIL! (message)".
And you can of course send messages as well.
Or maby even a live chat room...
Or a BBS server?
