1st place was definitely deserved. Good job to all the contestants and thank you to all the Judges. | 2010-01-01 | 9:35 PM |
Todd | Re:GUI Awards 2009 OverCosta was really good. Wasn't Asgard in last year's? | 2010-01-01 | 9:56 PM |
Brandon | Re:GUI Awards 2009 OverYeah, Jacob really deserved it. Asgard was not in last years, just Q-Step and that Screen 13 version.
I'm a little depressed, it's the first time I didn't get 2nd place. Oh well, I'm going to start now for next year. | 2010-01-01 | 10:05 PM |

Really??? Why not shoot for 1st place? I've been writing ideas down for GUIs like having a way of eliminating title bars and window buttons but use mouse clicks and movements to manipulate the windows instead. | 2010-01-01 | 10:08 PM |
Brandon | Re:GUI Awards 2009 OverWell yeah I want first but if nothing else this year I wanted to get 2nd place so I'd have gotten it every year. | 2010-01-01 | 10:23 PM |
pharoah | Re:GUI Awards 2009 OverHey Brandon, did you ever read the docs for this new version of Costa?

The Costa development started in February, 2004 and I worked on it almost
almost every day for a couple of years. Then, I felt the need to move on
to other projects. Costa was abandonned, and left untouched for a long,
long time. Then, in 2008, I decided to finish what I started. I took the
old source code to various versions of Costa, studied it and thought of
what was good, and what was bad. I decided to do a complete rewrite, and
quickly made a GUI toolkit to allow quick and fairly easy development of
programs. Soon after, the desktop was completed.
Costa was made using Microsoft Visual Basic for MS-DOS. I didn't use the
forms engine in Visual Basic for MS-DOS, I wrote everything from scratch.
Although the code to load the fonts was written by me, the fonts were made
by other people. The document README.TXT in the DATAFONTS directory
contains more information about this, and gives proper credit to the
authors.

Brandon | Re:GUI Awards 2009 OverI know that Costa is in VBDOS, and I'm not concerned. If he used the objects, that would be different. Really any BASIC dialect that can compile for DOS can be used. | 2010-01-03 | 4:06 PM |
