Brandon | Windows 7My dad ordered the Family Pack, one of the linsences is mine and although I won't use Windows as my main OS, I'm going to install on my main desktop so I can get used to basic things so when other people break it, I can fix it for them. Also my dad's P4 3Ghz,3GB RAM, 320GBx2 in RAID 1, and TV Tuner will be running it, I think it will be fun to see how 7 runs, considering XP isn't super speedy and Vista is slow even on Core 2 systems. Anyone else going to use it? | 2009-10-24 | 5:35 PM |
JacobPalm | Re:Windows 7Definitely, I'm getting Home Premium. There's a bunch of features I wouldn't miss out on, such as the new taskbar and the improved performance. And, since all my hardware has 64-bit drivers I'm going for a 64-bit setup.
I've been running Vista since it came out, and besides slow file operations (which were fixed with SP1) I've never had any problems with it - not even a single crash, and all my hardware has drivers for Vista. On my Pentium Dual Core 2.16 GHz laptop with 2 GB RAM it's pretty speedy, but with the optimizations done in Windows 7 I'm excited to see if I can feel the difference. Since I'm going 64-bit I'll also install an additional 2 GB RAM, so with SuperFetch the performance should be pretty good.
I'm not a Microsoft fanboy, I just think that Windows is a great operating system which suits my taste and my needs perfectly. | 2009-10-24 | 6:36 PM |
