BrandonFun500 5.1 Dev Screenshot
To start off this post I'd like to do what I normally do, post some idea that no one cares about and normally gets forgotten. Anyways Fun500 will be taking a MacOS X like versioning scheme: A.B.C where A is the version of the base code, B is the major update, and C is the "service pack" To wrap it up, I will impress all with my latest screenshot: Now this is the same code as 5 U1, but with the Rush font and a new look. I'm not sure what else I'll do with it, but I thought a teaser wouldn't hurt.

Looks neat! Will it imitate Mac OS entirely or will it just implement some of the features? Also is this going to be scripted?

Its based off of the Fun500 5 code, any app written for 5 can be ported with little or no work. Its more or less a glorified service pack. With a new look and some new objects. It will be known as 5.1 assuming its released.

BrandonFun500 5.1 Dev Update
I spent some time and upgraded the Desktop to V1.2, to get it ready for 5.1, I'm not going to mention a lot about the changes, but it should be known that the Desktop's code is independent of the libraries, that way the desktop can be slim, as it will be open idle in the background most of the time. Tomorrow I'll have to port the changes I made in the desktop over to the library, and maybe work more on the library.

BrandonRe:Fun500 5.1 Dev Update
Crap, I forgot to tell you that Fun500 Uses the less conventional 48x48 icon size to make the desktop look less empty, maybe I'll switch to 32x32 though?

ToddRe:Fun500 5.1 Dev Update
Make it a config option. So if a user prefers 48x48, let them use that or 32x32 if they want.

PrimisRe:Fun500 5.1 Dev Screenshot
gee thanks for telling me, do you have any Idea how cool I could make a 48x48 Icon with 16 colors?

BrandonRe:Fun500 5.1 Dev Screenshot
I have to use BSVs for the icons anyways, so maybe I'll switch to 32x32.

ToddRe:Fun500 5.1 Dev Screenshot
Or you could write your own icon format. Maybe something vector based?

BrandonRe:Fun500 5.1 Dev Screenshot
BSV means raw speed, and its easy to make icons in, just use MSPaint and then fire up an app that loads the image and then BSAVEs it. I did think of my own format, but then making icons would be more of a pain.

BrandonFun500 5.1 Dev Update
I just completed Drop downs, anyone whose developed for Fun500 5 before or maybe even Viper will know about the "BUTCLICKED" Variable used to tell which button is pressed, a similar variable "DDCLICKED" is used for drop down menus. A screenshot would have been a little boring, so I decided I'll wait until I have more news. Next task: Rewrite the file dialogs.
