Brandon | Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardThe final release date has been announced: August 28th. Thats only 4 days away!
When I got my MacBook, I knew the update would be coming out and I knew from having an old iMac with 10.3 that OS X software only supports the latest, and probably second latest releases. So I told my dad and he said he would pay for the upgrade.
Then I few months ago I found out it was only going to be $30 to upgrade! I could have easily gotten over a hundred dollars from him, we were expecting a Windows like price.
Anyways I pre-ordered today, It came out to about $31.50 with tax and its supposed to be delivered on the 28th, I'll be sure to post anything exciting I notice once it comes. | 2009-08-24 | 5:50 PM |

Brandon | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardA lot of the Finder has been rewritten, which is a big deal. The "legacy" PowerPC code is removed for everything. A lot of it is now 64bit. Its SMP optimized. | 2009-08-24 | 9:38 PM |
SonicBrit | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardOne thing thats great about Apple is they always work on optimizing their code, each release seems to get quicker, that something I wish Microsoft would copy :P | 2009-08-24 | 11:24 PM |
Brandon | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardI'm surprised they don't, I mean they copy everything else Apple does :P | 2009-08-25 | 9:37 AM |

SonicBrit | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardI like surface and yes it was an original product from the hardware research department, (Microsoft does have an interesting research team) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Surface
Take a look at this from Apple back in 1987 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WdS4TscWH8
I think more companies have innovated different things, but sadly they never come to fruition due to politics, funding or other such things. | 2009-08-25 | 3:44 PM |
Todd | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardAfter watching the video, it looks like Apple had a similar idea. It would still be impossible to get such a precision speech recognition program (without calibrating it prior to use) as well as the data required to do such things like programs and software that predict deforestation or geographical weathering. Still it doesn't hurt to dream. | 2009-08-25 | 5:21 PM |
Brandon | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardI dream all the time about Microsoft sucking and eventually failing. Its nice when dreams come true :P | 2009-08-25 | 5:25 PM |
Todd | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardI dream about ideas for software applications. | 2009-08-25 | 9:54 PM |
SonicBrit | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardWhen you start dreaming in code then you know you've gone too far. Seriously it happened in the QB IDE too, that blue screen will haunt me forever. | 2009-08-25 | 10:08 PM |
Brandon | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard@Todd: Maybe you should code them once in a while :P jk jk
I don't really like the QB IDE, I miss my normal copy/paste shortcuts and highlighting a bunch of text and backspacing it. | 2009-08-26 | 9:40 AM |
Todd | Re:Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardI should and I do. ;) When I can't get to them, I write them down. I just started my Sophomore year as a transfer at Lehigh so I'm basically getting acclimated with the campus and my courses. | 2009-08-26 | 4:57 PM |
