I never like some used to question why we made DOS GUIs. It was a fun programming exercise. But now I've lost interest in developing Reflow any further. Not even I would use it regularly, let alone anyone else. So what I'm going to do is take the ideas I originally had for Reflow (tag based file system, etc.) and implement them in Windows. I'll probably create some sort of file manager, an explorer.exe clone with these features. I'd also like to look at completely changing the desktop/taskbar interface of Windows, sort of like WindowBlinds, but I'm not sure what this involves.

What's Windows? Maybe using Linux would be a better idea? Support Open Source!

Windows is the one I use :P How does one create an X11 window manager?

BrandonRe:Apathy
No idea, but if you made this it would basically be a Desktop Environment for Linux, thats what I want to make someday.

I can't find much information on the matter. Do you think it's possible to create one purely in FB?

BrandonRe:Apathy
Probably, and if nothing else with a little help from a C library it should be doable, its my dream, but over my head.

I came to similar conclusions, but what's the point of doing anything for Linux or Windows or Mac if they're all going to die someday? Better to make your own os! :)

LOL, thats they way to go, be independent and fail :P SkyOS is a good example.

Ahhh SkyOS. Their site hasn't changed in the past 6 years! They keep saying "we need funding" or "support our project" but nothing works out. Speaking of Linux distros, did anyone ever try gOS (GoodOS)? It's a distro (not sure what it was forked from) that comes with a GUI similar to Mac OS's Finder. I'm thinking about installing it on one of my towers and using it if it can support my software. I think the latest distro is "gOS Widgets".

Its based on Ubuntu and uses a lot of google web services, with my rural internet, its not worth my time, It uses enlightenment as the desktop environment (this is all from memory, so it might be wrong)

Re:Apathy
I got the gOS magazine, it's not that good, no new special features. It was slow and didn't adapt to wireless networks. At least I've tried it now
