BrandonWin3.1 at 700MHz
Don't judge me based of this, but my favorite OS has to be Win3.1, I'm not really sure why, but it is and has always been. This week end I was thinking (hard to believe?), that Win3.1 on an Atom might be cool, so I googled for Intel win3.1 video drivers, and stumbled upon this: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4ATPEJ.html, its a win3.1 driver for Intel 810 video!!! I have 3 systems that are P3 generation with this damn i810 integrated and with no AGP slot, I'm limited on upgrades, so the machines are let sit, well besides one that I have been testing Fun500 in FreeDOS on. So I got out a spare Fireball 1280 that had DOS 6.22 on it (I wasted my time downloading a DOS CD :P) and installed Win3.1, a packet driver and I got it all set up and running well. My only issue currently is sound, but I'll get it working sometime. Its neat to see what could be done back then, the only thing that modern OSes have improved is Web Browsers and IM clients as far as I can tell. PS: I got out my Word 1.1 floppies and installed it :P I felt like an 00ber nerd then.

if your board has a sb emulation mode, or something along those lines it may just be a case of install the sb drivers, if not you might have to google around for something. I have to say windows 3.1 always will have a place in my heart

It AMC'97 chipset on a proprietary HP mobo. I have some old ISA cards, the mobo has no ISA, and I have some new PCI Soundblasters, but they are too new :P

if you have a pci128 that will work you just need the dos driver to turn on sb16 emulation
