Brandon | Fun500 5 BlogThis is one of them update threads :)
After using Asgard and seeing its update system, it inspired me to get back to work on Fun500 5. I really like the 5 API, so I think I'm going to keep it the way it is VGA in QB.
I worked on the Package Manager, it now compares an the registry with an example package listing and determines whether there is an update, its not installed, or its up to date. Then it displays this data nicely, and can scroll, a total of 250 apps are supported in the database.
Next I need to add the ability to click on apps to update/install or remove, then make the submit button work :)
Some Eye candy:

New Package Manager, with About Dialog open.
And btw, I need apps! Once I finish the Package Manager it will be useless without stuff filling it. Make a QML Browser for it and you will get the new badge plus a golden point :P Heres a link to the latest BETA with the SDK: http://theguiblog.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=44&func=view&id=3979&catid=4#3979 | 2009-04-25 | 10:25 PM |
Brandon | Fun500 5 Beta 3!I finished the package manager this morning. I didn't include the Calculator app in the download, so you can use the package manager to install it, and then uninstall it :P
Use the SDK! Fill the REPO with apps, I want the limit of 250 apps in the repo met :P
Note: Fun500 5 is Screen 12 QB, If you like QB, Support Fun500, one of the last QB (not FB) GUIs.

trolly | Re:Fun500 5 Beta 3!i like your update sysem too.
you bet me, in my update system we can only install apps or updates, but not uninstall them.
but it's shit that you use pkunzip, it's not free :(
a suggestion: you should make something like an highlight for the selected app to install/update/uninstall, so, when i clic on the submit button, i'm sûr that i will install the app i've selected | 2009-04-26 | 10:04 AM |
ksr | Re:Fun500 5 Beta 3!Cool, I suppose Reflow needs something like this now :P | 2009-04-26 | 10:15 AM |
Brandon | Re:Fun500 5 Beta 3!@Trolly, you can update/install many packages at once. The status field changes if you click on an item
I tried other ZIP apps, but couldn't get them working, if you know of a good one, I'll use it.
I just added a Guess the number game to the repo :P
edit:I added a bunch of apps to the repo today. I also made a HTML repo viewer: http://repo.theguiblog.com/f55/ | 2009-04-26 | 10:38 AM |
Brandon | Re:Fun500 5 BlogTonight I plan to work on getting a new archive format going, even if I have to make one myself. Once that is done, I will release RC, and once a few third party apps are out I'll release 5, in 2 versions, Standard and Minimal.
Please download BETA 3 and use the SDK, if you need help just ask me. A App designer is soon in my list of projects. | 2009-04-27 | 2:46 PM |
Brandon | OUT! Fun500 5 RC1I dug around QB45.com and found an archive app and the unarchiver to go with it. Then I repackaged the REPO and fixed the package manager.
Please test this version out, the ZIP files will be removed soon, so BETA 3 will be broken.

| Re:Fun500 5 Blog:silly: Yes. i get this problem ages ago in fl. I remember that the mouse wouldn't turn on so I put 2 MouseOn commands right next to each other. but that was my spaghetti programming:S | 2009-04-27 | 7:52 PM |
Brandon | Re:OUT! Fun500 5 RC1Ok, there is an updated Desk in the repository, install it and then restart Fun500. | 2009-04-27 | 8:11 PM |
Brandon | Fun500 5 BlogYesterday, I upgraded the Desktop to 1.1, now supporting links to other apps, and a supposedly optimized bmp loader by Aguma. Also I changed it so that apps don't have to load the wallpaper themselves, the desktop isn't erased when an app is ran.
I'm waiting in Pharaoh to get me his Quark Archiver so I can upgrade the package manager, and then all these new packages will go public.
EDIT: And trolly ported his Im system to Fun500, so once the new archiver is set up, I'll add it to the repo. | 2009-05-23 | 11:13 AM |
