Brandon | The GUI FundYou know what makes people do stuff? Money!!! If we started adding prize money to projects, we would probably double the number of people involved!
Money has to come from somewhere, and I would say the easiest way is signing up for an ad service, and then having GUI sites running them.
We could have a committee, basically anyone who runs the adds, and they get to decide how we send them (possibly some donations to GNU projects etc, and of course to GUI projects).
The committee would need a chairman to sign up for the ads and to actually distribute the funds.
I don't know how well the ads would really work, or if anyone would be interested in being a chairman, but I know I would be willing to run the ads. I also don't know what the advertisement companies would think of it? | 2009-01-25 | 2:00 PM |
Todd | Re:The GUI FundI have Google AdSense to publish ads and I get money added whenever I reach $100. If there are more ads and more clicks, the more money for the funds. If you can set up a PayPal account for it, I'll donate the money when Google sends it.
There are others out there too: BidVertiser, Clicksor, etc. | 2009-01-25 | 2:29 PM |
Brandon | Re:The GUI FundThe problem is, I can't be the chairman. Someone else will have to have the paypal and adsense account, I'm not 18. | 2009-01-25 | 3:19 PM |
MPNQB | Re:The GUI FundOut of curiosity, how much money can one expect to make from AdSense? | 2009-01-25 | 3:49 PM |

I have no idea, but I'm assuming not very much. | 2009-01-25 | 3:54 PM |
Todd | Re:The GUI FundIt depends on many separate factors - your site's popularity by Google, the number of ad clicks, and the types of ads displayed. Some pay more than others. | 2009-01-25 | 4:50 PM |
