ikongui | Ikon & Freebasic AppsI've been wondering about something lately. Freebasic is 32bit right? Does it use DJGPP or another port of GCC, or is it a separate compiler all-together. I've only ever used it for writing games for Windows, so I'm not sure about it's DOS support.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of making a way so people could write apps for Ikon with BASIC as well as C. I think having an option like that might increase the chances of someone actually writing something for Ikon one day. | 2009-01-22 | 3:07 AM |
pharoah | Re:Ikon & Freebasic AppsI don't know. However, I'm learning C right now as it happens and I'd be interested in trying to port a program I've written to icon at some point. Does your GUI have a homepage I can look at? (Sorry if I missed it, I don't hang around here as much as I used to). | 2009-01-22 | 10:21 AM |
ikongui | Re:Ikon & Freebasic AppsIt's homepage is http://www.ikongui.com
Today I'm thinking of looking around for a C compiler that could either be ported to Ikon, or even just something that isn't as memory hungry as djgpp. I wrote a djgpp front-end for Ikon a while ago but there wasn't enough memory to shell out and run gcc.exe to finish compiling an app. | 2009-01-22 | 10:29 AM |
ikongui | Re:Ikon & Freebasic AppsCool, I finally put together a stripped DJGPP compiler on Ikon. Now people can write software and compile without ever leaving Ikon's desktop. I don't think I'll tackle Freebasic though.. I'd rather just write some more programs for the software page. | 2009-01-24 | 5:20 PM |
Todd | Re:Ikon & Freebasic AppsIs DJGPP fairly easy when it comes to writing software in comparison to most C++ compilers? I remember trying to compile SEAL (which is a DJGPP GUI too) and the makefile wasn't doing everything I wanted. It would give me a pool of errors. | 2009-01-24 | 6:06 PM |
