I bought the cheap 2GB model. For $300 its nice for a mini laptop. I even sold my big Dell laptop. I got a 8GB SDHC card for it and I would say between it and a nice desktop you have everything you need. lets see I have the screen on full bright and unplugged at 9:11. I'll edit when the battery is very low. With the backlight all the way down the battery life is multiplied.		2008-07-209:13 PM

Speaking of laptops, I got a brand new Fujitsu Lifebook E8410 with a battery life of almost 8 hours! I'd imagine the EEE would get quite a few hours of life since it's very efficient and doesn't use much power on a hard disk.		2008-07-209:34 PM

Fuju-what? Can't you get something like a nice Gateway or Toshiba? 8hrs is crazy, is that with wifi on and ful screen brightness? What capacity is the battery? I read somewhere that HDDs accually use less power than SSDs because HDDs are so optimized these days. Powers at 60% right now.		2008-07-209:53 PM

Fujitsu. They are very dependable. I do have a Gateway and a Toshiba. They are still very good but a friend of mine got a brand new Toshiba Satellite and the CPU died after a year. I haven't tested it with full screen brightness but it has built-in Wifi with a touch sensor. So if you shake it or even so much as touch it, IT WILL KNOW. Plus if you register it at their site, if it gets stolen, you call them and they track it and arrest the criminal. That service is included for life.		2008-07-2010:21 PM

I want to beat th price you paid!! I looked up your CPU in the benchmarks I like and it gets 1275. My Core 2 gets 1004, and my new Athlon gets 1024, and your P4 gets 353. So until I get a quad core (maybe christmas) you've got me beat. Vista is a bitch, if you need an XP license let me know, I can either find one on-line or I hve a brand new one I got to get the install CD, because no ne ships PCs with install CDs anymore.		2008-07-219:37 AM

Yeah I know Vista really does suck. It is EXTREMELY SLOW! They have a downgrade disk included and I'll probably be loading DCL or Ubuntu or some distro on there soon. Well that will. 1000 is enough points for ANYTHING (besides maybe Crysis). So anything over that is just bonus. If you do Ubuntu, I'd try Xubuntu. Its got a lot of good programs in it and is less bulky than regular Ubuntu, but If you like a little bulk and fancy features then try Linux Mint. I have Mint on mt Athlon and Xubuntu (technically eeeXubtunu) on my EEE.		2008-07-2110:11 AM
