Speaking of Windows, did you ever try Crossover, Brandon? It's basically WINE for any OS, including Linux. They have tech support which is why it costs money but it's runs on Mac OS X too. If it can run Windows apps almost perfectly, I'll use it. But stupid campus makes us use XP or Vista because their network security system is retarded.		2008-11-035:10 PM

My school is stupid when it comes to network security. They force you to install CrapAfee AntiVirus which makes my computer slower than a retarded bastard maniac. The other day when I was at Staples, I saw Windows boxes in an aisle, and they took up half the aisle for all the different versions. I hate how XP is still $100 for upgrade, $200 for a new installation when it's almost 8 years old!!!!! I mean Red Hat never costs that much for their desktop! I thought Apple usually gave Macs to schools. Strange that they don't. I mean I am a jack of all OSes so I'm not as anti-Windows. Well I have to admit I have one copy that my dad gave me, its an "upgrade" technically that I have on a *cough*couple*cough*pcs so for the once in a great while I want to play a game in windows, I haven't messed with WINE much.		2008-11-036:19 PM

There's nothing wrong with hippies. ;) I just hope eventually Linux will have its bigger influence on the general mainstream of computer users. I think if Linspire or something that made the transition from Windows simple and easy, more people might use it. I dont think that windows is as bad as some make it sound. I do agree its buggy here and there, kinda slow, and has a crappy interface but it is good enough for most people. Todd: I think that all OS' are gonna stay where they are. Windows' goal is to make a crap load of money, while linux's goal is too be a great operating system. I personally don't know how to make your desktop look EXACTLY like that. It's something built into Explorer that causes it to display your folders like that. I don't think Explorer can be customized to that extent.		2008-11-047:26 AM

I go onto crystalxp.net, the only thing i don't use is the bootscreen modifier. i have the software to do what i want. maybe the service pack is the problemo. brandon: i acually came across a ubuntu theme for xp but i doubt a xp theme for ubuntu exists:laugh:		2008-11-052:12 AM

I know there's a "Windows" theme which is just the generic theme resembling Windows 95/98. I never saw an XP theme or Vista theme for any Linux WM. They usually follow themes from other WMs.		2008-11-057:32 AM

Is this in KDE or GNOME? And does it come on the CD or do you install it from their package site? The last Ubuntu I played around with was Kubuntu Dapper Drake. In KDE, I remember seeing only a Windows 95-ish theme and some other OS themes like QNX, X-Windows, and their regular ensemble.		2008-11-053:27 PM

Don't beat yourself up over it. If you want to learn more about it, just find a nice distro like Ubuntu, Puppy, DSL, etc. and play around with it like there's no tomorrow. I'd do it on a computer that you can risk rather than one with code or work on it. I use a laptop for DSL where I know I don't have anything important on it.		2008-11-067:31 AM
