agumaBootable floppy
Well I'm trying to make a bootable operating system that accomplishes something (lol), but anyway I don't wanna write the boot code onto a CD cause I'm gonna use like 1/2kb of it :P But since computers don't come with floppy drives anymore, it, well, doesn't work. What should I do? Can you make flash drives bootable? that might be my next choice. BTW, I don't really get the stuff I'm talking about, so excuse me if I said something really wrong.

BrandonRe:Bootable floppy
You could make a virtual floppy for an emulator, make a bootable flash drive (i dunno how), or get a USB floppy.

I know you need to go into BIOS first and switch the boot sequence, mine: 1 floppy 2 CD ROM 3 hard drive I know you can do it for windows with the CD ROM. I think it's AUTOSTART.INI, I think it works like a batch or something

If you make a floppy image of it you can make a bootable cd and use the floppy image to boot from.

agumaRe:Bootable floppy
well you can do that, but its not considered bootable. To make it bootable is to be like when you turn it on & press F8 (it depends on the computer, that might be different) and select a boot device (CD-ROM, floppy, etc.) then it'll literally execute the code on the boot device. The code is just an EXE w/o a header, btw.

Aguma, like Brandon mentioned about a bootable USB drive. You can buy a cheap one at 32 MB or less for less than $10 online and format your USB drive to boot like a floppy disk (i.e. format it as a system disk). Then you stick it in your computer and depending on its manufacture date, hopefully it should run. Most new machines boot from USB drives. And Jason, the file is called "AUTORUN.INI". You were close but Aguma was trying to find a way to work around using a floppy drive. ;)
