BrandonWelcome Back Jacob!
I sent a message to Jacob Palm yesterday and today I got a message back:
Hey Brandon, Of course I remember you, and everybody else from the GUI community as well - even though it's been quite a while. I did register at the GUI blog a few days ago, I just haven't gotten around to posting anything yet. I had a lot of catching up to do, so I've been reading a bunch of threads in the forum. It's good to see that the community is active again, I also see you got some new members there since the last time I had a look. Thanks for your mail, I'll be stopping by the blog every now and then to see what's new and to keep you guys updated on the progress I make with Costa. Jacob Palm
Well I guess this should be the welcoming party. You new guys, Jason, Aguma, maybe rCX might want to introduce yourself, and us older guys (Todd, Kyle) might update on our GUIs, to make getting upto date easier?

Welcome Back Jacob! Just a little info for our newer members, you might not know about Jacob but he started JacobPalm.dk which used to have a GUI community where we all met. Then we started making sister sites like the GUI Blog. Jacob took the site offline and the GUI community was never the same. We still kept in touch and still had sites to go to but they were slowly dying. Members weren't coming as much and the site was collecting more dust than hits.

Now this is exciting! Good to hear from you again Jacob. I never actually realised until I just saw your blog that Costa was developed in VBDOS - though it's pretty similar to QB, isn't it?

ToddRe:Welcome Back Jacob!
VBDOS is similar. There is also a visual designer to create your own text-mode GUIs but using their design concepts. It's syntax is like QB 7.1.

BrandonRe:Welcome Back Jacob!
VBDOS has a GUI like Windoze 1.0. But other than that its like QB 7.1 at least to me.

Hi everybody - it's good to see that you guys are still hanging around. As I wrote in that mail Brandon posted earlier I'm happy to see that the community is thriving once again. You're right, Costa is made in VBDOS, which is actually just an updated version of QB 7.1 with components to make TUIs, a better IDE and a few bugfixes. In fact all it's temp files still have "QB" in their name. The reason I'm using it instead of QB 7.1 is because I like the IDE better.
