Dick | Bitmap load & resizing, improved menu, & improved background etcI have now added ability to load 8bit bmp files and those files can be moved around, resized, & multiple at a time. To resize a bmp image, left click on it and hold while moving the mouse. To bring it back to original size and palette, right click on it. I have added submenus to my menus now, so thats cool. I've also added the option of disabling/centering/& stretching the background. It's quite amazing how much you can get done without QB's limits dragging you down. And best of all, it's fairly functional at 3000 dosbox cycles, although image stuff is slow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AADPUNbInvw Here is a video ofcourse, notice the conflicting palettes. sample images provided. Jason | Re:Bitmap load & resizing, improved menu, & improved background etcI like how motivated you are, this gui is coming along nicely. whats coming next? | 2011-12-26 | 11:00 AM |
Dick | Re:Bitmap load & resizing, improved menu, & improved background etcyeah it's great, i have no school so i can code. next on the list is full text editor, then drag & drop stuff and scroll bars. I am planning on making a full recursive menu that's driven by a text file, so users can add anything they want to the menu and add submenus, folders, shortcuts & shit, like the fluxbox menu. I wanna make something that resmbles a command prompt, and a calculator that works like a command prompt where you input your expression. I'm also thinking about adding a icon based file manager and perhaps a taskbar, though I dont know. | 2011-12-26 | 3:08 PM |
Jason | Re:Bitmap load & resizing, improved menu, & improved background etchave you thought about storing window canvases in xms memory and using a double buffer, so you could easily convert it into a multitasking beast? | 2011-12-26 | 10:41 PM |
Dick | Re:Bitmap load & resizing, improved menu, & improved background etcxms is a real mode technique, you dont need it in freebasic as you have access to all memory. The gui does store the windows in a bitmap in memory. As far as mulitasking, it can 'multitask' the built in applications, as long as their updating & controls are put out into the main loop, and i have tried that. it slows things down and it's not really necessary as none of the applications require live updating, except the clock. perhaps if i make another video this evening, ill try it again and show a few clocks/counters or something running simultaneously with live updating. | 2011-12-26 | 11:07 PM |
