Jason | Briska 1.5I've completed my first QML browser in a maximum of 3 days. Download Briska 1.5
I'd like to thank Stéphan Wegener and Matej Horvat for inspiration & help. | 2010-09-02 | 6:17 AM |
Brandon | Re:Briska 1.5I can not get it to run, I tried under DOS and Win7. I assume that it was made using a QB EXE + WGET for Windows, so it's target is WIN95-WINXP (well some XP machines), and DOS if the user finds and installs WGET for DOS themselves. Did you make sure to set your uagent string to what you want it to be? | 2010-09-02 | 8:53 AM |
Jason | Re:Briska 1.5the only problem is that it only runs on professional. looking into a fix... | 2010-09-02 | 9:02 AM |
Brandon | Re:Briska 1.5I booted my Fun500 test rig and copied it's WGET EXE (for DOS) over yours, and it's working. On loading my homepage, I see you used my page as the home, thank you. The rendering is also pretty well done, however links aren't wrapped and wrapping itself doesn't always work right (the GUI blog homepage for example), really that was my only complaint with the rendering, it's pretty solid.
Overall I like the UI, it's probably one of the best in a QML Browser, however it might be nice to be able to use the up/down arrows not just the page up/down keys to scroll (most users are used to the arrow keys and using page up/down on a laptop isn't always conveniant) | 2010-09-02 | 9:18 AM |
Jason | Re:Briska 1.5brandon, does having your page as home mean i can chat to you on aim again? i have released.
i didnt mind about word wrap for now. what machine did you run briska on (os)? | 2010-09-02 | 9:40 AM |
Brandon | Re:Briska 1.5FreeDOS, I just used my WGET for DOS EXE and it worked fine. | 2010-09-02 | 10:08 AM |
Jason | Re:Briska 1.5lovely, i still want to get it running on xp home, anyone got a vesa fix for xp home ntvdm? | 2010-09-02 | 10:09 AM |
HorvatM | Re:Briska 1.5I love the teletext-like numbers, and overall it's a nice browser.
However, the rendering is slow (but if you're a perfectionist it's worth the wait), you can't jump to absolute URLs, it uses a graphics mode for no reason, and it uses a lot of disk space when you're reading large pages. It's a little short on features too. | 2010-09-02 | 10:21 AM |
Jason | Re:Briska 1.5like i said, it's just out of beta, i plan something special for the text mode, sorry about the speed, thats just the future font. | 2010-09-02 | 10:23 AM |
Brandon | Re:Briska 1.5I did notice that the speed wasn't amazing, however I would say that it wasn't that bad. However it could be optimized, I might recommend trying to use Trolly's font routine, at least trying it to see if it's any faster. | 2010-09-02 | 10:36 AM |
