Brandon | New Mock-UpI used MSPAINT in study hall to create a mock-up for the design of the next Fun500. What do you think? | 2010-05-14 | 2:05 PM |
HorvatM | Re:New Mock-UpThat looks pretty neat! The launcher buttons would look better with a white or gray background in my opinion. And I'm a bit worried about the redraw speed of this style.
EDIT: How about some color in the icons? | 2010-05-14 | 2:17 PM |
Brandon | Re:New Mock-UpI don't know if you've read my news posts, but I created my own Icon format, and I plan to make an editor, so if you don't like an icon, you can change it.
As far as redraw speed goes, would people prefer this look and a slightly slower redraw or the old one and a faster redraw? | 2010-05-14 | 5:02 PM |
TheWalrus | Re:New Mock-UpI wouldn't worry about redrawing speed with that new design, I used something like it in an earlier version of Costa (0.9.something), with rounded buttons and some stuff, and it wasn't noticeable, not even at 3000 cycles in DOSBox. With Costa it has always been the font and the icons that have taken some time to be drawn, the rest is drawn almost instantly.
And I would love to see that design in Fun500, it would definitely spice up the user experience! | 2010-05-15 | 7:42 AM |
Brandon | Re:New Mock-UpI realized exactly what Jacob said last night when I tested it out a little. The font routine really is the slowest part, the icon routine isn't the fastest, but my custom routine is faster than anyother routine I've tried (other than BSV). | 2010-05-15 | 8:52 AM |
