Jason | Your specs.I was wondering if all of you have XMS on your GUI testing machines, cos you'll need it, tell me if you dont, i'll think up the impossible :D | 2010-04-23 | 4:46 AM |
HorvatM | Re:Your specs.Well, DOS installs HIMEM.SYS by default, doesn't it? FreeDOS also has its XMS driver. | 2010-04-23 | 8:21 AM |
Brandon | Re:Your specs. You should be safe using XMS memory, as long as to don't use too much :P My desktop (486 testing box) has XMS and all it has is a very basic FreeDOS install. -The next Fun500 will require XMS for SVGA mode. | 2010-04-23 | 8:22 AM |
Jason | Re:Your specs. The ammount of XMS is relevant to how many windows you can have open.
To be able to run more applications take into account: Screen depth (16BIT) Window resolution (Lower the better) Screen resolution (So fullscreen doesnt take up much)
Any complaints? Probably a few. | 2010-04-23 | 10:21 AM |
Brandon | Re:Your specs. That makes sence, just make sure you test with DOSBox (or a real machine) with 4MB RAM, it's the lowest I'd think an SVGA machine would have. | 2010-04-23 | 10:26 AM |

Brandon | Re:Your specs. That's the amount of Memory a 386/486 might have, so you need to test and make sure that your GUI can run with that little. | 2010-04-23 | 1:07 PM |
Jason | Re:Your specs.I think it can handle it, its a juggernaut. | 2010-04-23 | 1:11 PM |
