Brandon | OpenGEMI was messing with FreeDOS today, and relized with a little work the GUI GEM could be sweet. I'm thinking of messing around with it some, anyone now anything about it (I read the wikipedia article)? | 2008-07-30 | 9:20 PM |
Todd | Re:OpenGEMA guy named Owen Rudge was working on a clone called OpenGEM.
A little FYI, Apple sued Digital Research because GEM looked like Mac OS. | 2008-07-30 | 11:01 PM |
MPNQB | Re:OpenGEMThat was when GEM had decent market share.
What's GEM written in? C, C++, ASM? | 2008-07-31 | 12:22 AM |
Brandon | Re:OpenGEMThat my problem, I think C.
Hey Todd you're out of the loop, OpenGEM hasn't had a release for 3 years. | 2008-07-31 | 8:47 AM |
Todd | Re:OpenGEMI said,
A guy named Owen Rudge was (not IS) working on a clone called OpenGEM.
Yeah it was written in C. I'm not sure if it had Assembly in it or not but I'll have a look at the code. | 2008-07-31 | 12:20 PM |
rCX | Re:OpenGEMI've played around with OpenGEM as well. I think it's writen in C but it's not as cool as oZone | 2008-07-31 | 11:32 PM |
Todd | Re:OpenGEMoZone is the best!!! It hasn't crashed for me so far and it's perfect! It's like the faster successor to SEAL. Did you ever try their "Codename Illkirch," that oZone App Designer? It is a breakthrough. | 2008-08-01 | 12:36 AM |
aguma | Re:OpenGEMoh yeah, I heard about it in the old forum. Can it multitask? | 2008-08-01 | 11:52 AM |
Todd | Re:OpenGEMYou bet. It uses it's own architecture to develop something similar to EXEs which it uses as executables from which it can multitask. It is really awesome! You should download a copy and try it for yourself. | 2008-08-01 | 3:21 PM |
aguma | Re:OpenGEMI tried it; it's AWESOME! | 2008-08-01 | 3:39 PM |
Todd | Re:OpenGEMThe guy who made it made a previous version of it called QubeOS. It's somewhere on the internet but it resembles oZone GUI. There are several GUIs that were made as forks of SEAL like BadSeal (the continued old-school version of SEAL). I forget the others but BadSeal was the one that stuck in my mind. | 2008-08-01 | 4:01 PM |
