Brandon | GOTW: Fun500 5.1.1 GoldWith summer starting, I'm going to do something a little different with GUI of the Weak, and rotate through old versions of Fun500, one week at a time. I've already uploaded Fun500 6.3 and 6.0, the latest releases in FB and QB, so this week we'll start with the last Fun500 5 release. Here's a quote from Todd's review: There is a package manager which uses a DOS-ported version of WGET for downloading information and packages to the desktop. I cannot access the repository from DOSBox (when I was using this) so I can't tell you if it has tons of apps or just a few. Overall Fun500 5.1.1 was made with some new ideas in mind for making applications easy to make, easy to deploy, and all available on one platform. Fun500 5 was my attempt at a simple polished GUI without the messiness of multitasking, similar to Rush or Blue. The idea was to have an application repository so that other people could upload applications. Only Trolly ever made anything and as such the repository was eventually shutdown. However, Fun500 5.1.1 Gold was a release made with non-web users in mind. It includes all the applications that were available for at the time an bundles them together.
