Brandon | Time Machine: Jacob's Review of X-GUI 4Again the wayback machine strikes! This time I've found a copy of one of Jacob's Reviews. It makes me think that someone should start a column for GUI reviews.... Version: 4 Author: KG Software Website: Unknown Contact: UnknownLocal download: (would be here) Download size: 626 KB Source included: YesNote: I'm working on getting a screenshot of XGUI's VESA mode. (screenshot went here) Description XGUI 4 is the succeeder of one of the most popular GUI's ever, XGUI 3. It features a huge scripting language, moveable windows and multi-scripting, changeable SVGA modes and a lot of other fancy stuff. But sadly it has the same downside as the previous version - it lacks accessories. Appearance (4/5) The GUI looks very good, windows have a nice layout and can be moved, resized and closed. The GUI also has high-color icons and supports PCX loading for wallpapers. But it lacks textboxes or some other way of getting user input. User friendliness (4/5) It's a lot like Windows and Linux, so most users will feel at home in XGUI. There's also a command prompt for the DOS users. Icons have good, describing pictures on them which helps the user get around quickly. Customization (2/5) The wallpaper can be changed, as well as the screen resolution. There's not much else than that, though. Accessories (1/5) There's very few accessories in XGUI, and they don't do much. Stability (3/5) XGUI runs very stable and doesn't make many errors. But when it does it shows a "Panic!" screen and exits, sort of like the blue screen in Windows. Installation (1/5) Copy and paste, but you can run setup.exe to set the screen resolution. Documentation (3/5) The GUI itself doesn't have much documentation, but there's a good reference and "getting started" to XLANG (XGUI's scripting language).
